Berry Rhubarb Pops

These popsicles make the best of the early-summer harvest and are based on one of our favorite smoothie recipes. Best of all, they are 100% local! If you don't have popsicle molds, get creative with everyday kitchen items like paper or plastic cups and chopsticks.

Summertime Lemon Custard Tart

Heike Meyer, whose wood-fired ancient grain sourdough breads are now delivered to City Market from her bakery, Bee Sting Bakery, in Fairfax, teaches City Market classes regularly to share her passion for sourdough and whole grain baking. This recipe for a nut-based tart was taught in a recent class on baking tarts and pastries with whole grain and nut flours. The tart tastes like summer on a fork and is especially good with fresh berries on top!

Gingery Lemon Bars

A cheery twist on an already flavor-packed treat, these bars offer a wallop of zing. Look for local whole wheat pastry flour and maple syrup in our Bulk department!

Swedish Pancakes

These pancakes are similar to crepes and are easy to customize.  Try filling with fruits and topping with whipped cream, powdered sugar, or chocolate.

Cookie Truffles

This is a super simple, yet delectable, dessert.  Try substituting Oreos for other types of sandwich cookies, like Newman Os or Nutter Butters.

Candied Citrus Peel

These make delicious gifts for the holidays wrapped up in little packages. Chopped up small, they also add great flavor to sweet breads or muffins.

Maple Syrup Blondies

A dessert perfect for those cold, late winter Vermont evenings.

Chocolate Banana Bread Pudding

A delicious way to celebrate Fair Trade Month--using fair trade bananas!

Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free Chocolate Chocolate Cookies

It's winter, which means it is time to bake up a storm!  Baking for someone with food sensitivites?  These cookies will leave them (and you) happy and satisfied!

Poached Butternut Squash with Labne and Walnut Praline

This recipe was taught to us in a City Market cooking class called "The Fall Inspired Vegetarian," with Jessica Bongard of Sweet Lime Cooking Studio. The sweet, spiced butternut squash gets a crunchy topping with praline and is complemented with a dollop of labne (strained yogurt).
