Soups

Russian Borscht

A favorite, hearty recipe that's a meal in a bowl.

Chilled Zucchini Yogurt Soup

This soup would be great paired with a spicy main dish!

Somali Chicken Curry Soup

A favorite Somali chicken curry soup, served with chapati or rice. This recipe was made in one of our Mosaic of Flavors cooking classes.

Butternut Squash and Hominy Soup

This recipe gives sweet and silky butternut squash a little kick from chili powder, and the chewy hominy adds a nice contrast of texture and flavors. Hominy (or posole in Spanish) is corn that has been soaked with lye or lime which cause it to soften, swell up, and take on a chewy texture. You can find hominy in Aisle 2.

Hearty Kale and Kielbasa Soup

This soup won our local soup recipe competition back in 2010.

Miso Soup

This soup is earthy and delicious. You can substitute other squash and greens in this recipe based on what you have.  This recipe was taught in a City Market class on Japanese cooking.

Spaghetti Squash Chowder

The slightly sweet spaghetti squash plays off brilliantly against the velvety, garlic-infused cream base. This is an amazing soup, and Andrea Chesman's favorite way to enjoy spaghetti squash.

Yellow Eye Bean Soup

Yellow-eye beans are creamy and flavorful - delicious in soups, stews, and baked beans.

Golden Cheddar Cheese Soup

A kids favorite, this soup can be made with summer or winter vegetables. This recipe was taught in a City Market cooking class for kids and teens.

Carrot Ginger Soup

This recipe was submitted by Sally Henkel in the 2012 We ♥ Local Food Savory Carrot Recipe Competition. Sally says, Not only is this a vegan soup, but it's also great for winter days. The carrot and ginger medley create a savory soup, loaded with flavor. I love making this for friends and family dinner.
