Description
An alternative to the lettuce-tomato-onion classic, this Greek-style burger incorporates the cooling flavor of yogurt to pair with ground lamb. Yum!
Ingredients
1 pound
lamb, ground 1 cup
cheese, feta (crumbled) 1/3 cup
onion, red (chopped) 1 teaspoon
dill, fresh (chopped) 1/2 teaspoon
salt 1/4 teaspoon
black pepper 1 clove
garlic (peeled and minced) 1 cup
lettuce (chopped) 1
tomato (sliced) 1/2
cucumber (sliced) 4
pita pocketsInstructions
In a bowl, mix together meat, feta, onion, dill, salt, pepper, and garlic until well combined. Shape into patties about ½ inch thick. Grill over medium heat for 8-10 minutes, turning over after 5 minutes. Cook to desired doneness, but the internal temperature should reach at least 160F.
Assemble sandwich in pita pockets with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and tzatziki.
*Not a fan of lamb? Ground turkey is a perfect substitute.
