City Market’s Onion River Burger

Try these delicious baked veggie burgers from our very own Prepared Foods Department. 


8 ounces
tofu (drained and crumbled)
1/4 cup
almonds (sliced)
1 cup
mushrooms, white (chopped)
2 tablespoons
sunflower oil
1/2 cup
celery (diced)
1 cup
onion (diced)
1/4 cup
bell pepper, red (diced)
1/4 cup
carrot (grated)
2 cloves
garlic (peeled and minced)
3 tablespoons
scallion (chopped)
2 tablespoons
chives (sliced)
1 cup
oats, rolled
1 tablespoon
tamari (or soy sauce)
1 teaspoon
paprika, ground
1 teaspoon
oregano, dried
1 teaspoon
thyme, dried
1 teaspoon
salt, kosher
2 teaspoons
black pepper, ground
2 tablespoons
maple syrup
2 tablespoons


Preheat oven to 350 F. Puree tofu, almonds and mushrooms in a food processor. Heat oil in a large sauté pan. Sauté onions, celery, bell pepper, and carrots until onions become translucent.

Add garlic, and continue 2-3 minutes (do not burn). Place sautéed veggies in a mixing bowl. Combine with scallions, chives, oats, tamari, herbs, spices, salt and peppers. Mix well.

Portion into 6 oz patties. Mix together maple syrup and ketchup. Brush tops of burgers with half of mix. Bake 15 minutes and flip. Top with remaining glaze. Bake 10 more minutes.
