Yield

10 Servings

Ingredients

2 cups flour
3⁄4 cup butter
2 teaspoons salt
1 cup water (cold )
1 apple (diced)
1⁄2 cup cheese, cheddar (shredded)
1⁄2 pound bacon (cooked and crumbled)
1 egg (beaten)

Instructions

In a medium bowl, mix together flour and salt. “Cut” the butter into the dough until it’s in pea-sized chunks. Add water slowly until a non-sticky dough forms. Chill for 10 minutes. Roll out dough onto floured surface and cut out 10 medium circles (or 16 small circles for mini turnovers).

Beat egg with a tablespoon of water and set aside.

In a small bowl, combine diced apple, crumbled bacon, and shredded cheese. Divide mixture into 10 portions and add a portion to one side of each dough circle. Fold the dough over and crimp edges together. Brush with the beaten egg mixture. Make a few slices in the dough to allow them to vent while cooking.

Place the turnovers on a cookie sheet lined with ungreased parchment paper. Bake at 350F for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and flaky, turning over halfway through baking.
