This vegetable wash is a great way to effectively remove dirt and bacteria from your produce, without using harsh chemicals. Featured in our community class, Going Green & Clean, this recipe is one of many ways to green up your kitchen.
Ingredients
3 cups
water 1 cup
white vinegar 1 teaspoon
soap, castile 20 drops
grapefruit seed extract 10 drops
tea tree essential oil 5 drops
essential oil (optional, for fragrance)Instructions
Mix all ingredients together in a quart-sized jar.
To use: Fill a large basin or the sink with water and add 1-2 tsp of vegetable wash to the sink. Add lettuce or produce and swish around in the water. It will immediately wash away any dirt, but to effectively treat bacteria, it should swim in the solution for a least a minute or two, up to 10 minutes.
