Description
Moist and gingery, this classic gingerbread is delicious plain or served with a dollop of fresh, local whipped cream.
Ingredients
3/4 cup
flour, white 3/4 cup
flour, whole wheat pastry 1 1/4 teaspoon
baking soda 1 teaspoon
ginger, ground 1 1/2 teaspoon
ginger, fresh 3/4 teaspoon
cinnamon, ground 3/4 teaspoon
salt 1
egg 1/2 cup
honey (local) 1/2 cup
molasses 1 cup
applesauce 1 cup
water (boiling) 1/3 cup
vegetable oilInstructions
Preheat oven to 350. Spray a 9" square baking pan with vegetable oil. Mix together dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, blend together wet ingredients. Combine and pour into baking pan. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 40 minutes.
