When warm weather arrives, it’s time to light the grills. Give this funky twist on BBQ sauce a try at your next backyard gathering. Combining sweet and smoky flavors with a little bit of acid makes for a delightful sauce.

2 cups
cherries, sweet (washed and pitted)
2 cloves
1/4 cup
apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons
mustard, stone-ground
1 1/2 teaspoon
sea salt, smoked
2/3 cup
tomato, diced (with chilies)
1/4 cup
chipotle sauce (canned)
1/3 cup
sugar, turbinado

Place all ingredients in a blender or food processor. Blend until well combined and transfer to a saucepan. Cook, stirring occasionally, on medium heat for about 60 minutes until sauce is reduced by half, or reaches desired thickness. Let cool, pack in a mason jar, and bring it to your next barbecue
