City Market’s Summer Farm Tour

Only a few centuries ago dye plants were a part of any home garden. Wool and other natural fibers were dyed with the pigments extracted from plants. We’ll take our Summer Farm Tour to Twin Pond Retreat in Brookfield where Joann Darling will lead us in a 4 hour workshop, learning the rainbow of colors that can be obtained from the plants in our gardens, meadows and forests.

We will learn, step-by-step, how to prepare dye baths and dye wool and silk. On the way home, we’ll stop by Weeping Pines Farm and Apiaries in Williamstown where Susan and John Mailloux keep bees and craft soap, lip balm and skin crèmes from the honey and bees wax. They will teach us about small-scale honey production and processing. Whether you are a gardener, herbalist, crafter, or nature-lover, this tour is not to be missed!

The tour is $10 for City Market members. Non-members will be placed on a waiting list– please email mklepack@citymarket.coop. Transportation is provided.
