One of the benefits of being a Co-op Member—and one of our seven cooperative principles—is the ability to elect the Co-op's Board of Directors each year. Additionally, Co-op Members seeking to have a greater impact can run for the Board of Directors and help shape the direction of the Co-op’s future. 2025 Elections

Applications for Board Candidates are open annually from June 1 – August 31, with Board Elections to take place in October. Board Members generally serve a three-year term.

This year, there are four seats up for election; three seats are for 3-year terms, and one seat is for a 1-year term (to finish out a vacated seat). The three candidates who receive the most votes from Members in October will be elected for 3-year terms, starting January 2026 and ending December 2028. The candidate with the fourth most votes will be elected to the 1-year term, starting January 2026 and ending December 2026.

Eligibility Requirements

City Market, Onion River Co-op Board of Directors' candidates must:

  • Be a City Market, Onion River Co-op Member in good standing. Any household member wanting to run for the Board must purchase Equity under their own Membership by August 31, 2025.
  • Be 18 years of age as of August 31, 2025.
  • State all potential conflicts of interest on the application and must not have an overriding conflict of interest.

Vote for Board Members

Elections for Co-op Board of Directors are held annually in October. Co-op Members can vote for candidates in the Board elections from October 1 – 21. Members will receive detailed information in early October with instructions on how to cast ballots online or in-person once the election begins. 

Board Members generally serve a three-year term. Candidates are chosen by a simple majority. Candidates who receive the most votes will be elected to the available seats, starting in January each year. When a Co-op Board Member vacates a seat before the end of their three-year term, the Board of Directors may appoint a new Board Member who will serve until the next election. 

Board Election Process

  • June 1 – August 31: Board applications open. Apply for the board (document).
  • Late-September: Board candidates address Co-op Members at annual Member Meeting (next meeting: September 25, 2025)
  • October 1 – 21: Voting period for Co-op Members
  • Late-October: New Board Members announced
