Frozen Yogurt Magic

Making blueberry frozen yogurt at the Summervale last night:

Shake it, shake it

We filled small Ziploc bags with Butterworks Farm yogurt, a little local honey, a little vanilla, and few frozen blueberries. Then we put it in a large Ziploc bag with ice and coarse salt. 5 minutes later...magic!

A new twist - playing catch with the bags

I'm giddy to have discovered this shortcut to making frozen yogurt, since anyone can do it with a couple of Ziploc bags and some ice. Oh, and ice cream works the same way - just substitute half milk and half cream.

Enjoy! These kids did :-)

Homemade Frozen Yogurt
½ cup yogurt
1-2 Tbs. honey
A few drops of vanilla
Opt. 1-2 Tbs. blueberries (fresh or frozen)
***
6 Tbs. coarse salt
3 cups ice

Combine yogurt, honey, vanilla, and optional blueberries in a small Ziploc bag. Seal tightly and shake to combine ingredients. Combine salt and ice in a large Ziploc bag. Place small bag in large bag and seal tightly. Shake up and down and side to side for about 5 minutes, or until contents are frozen (be careful not to tear the outer bag). Makes about ½ cup frozen yogurt.
