Ingredients

1 tablespoon sunflower oil
1 onion
3 cloves garlic
1 pound beef (ground)
2 teaspoons curry powder
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon oregano, dried (dried)
1 teaspoon thyme, dried (dried)
1⁄2 teaspoon allspice, ground (ground)
  salt
1⁄2 cup green onion

Instructions

Use as a filling with the recipe for Vermont Cream Cheese Pastry and Vermont Meat Turnovers.

Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion, and sauté until soft and golden. Stir in garlic, and cook 30 seconds. Add ground beef, curry powder, chili powder, oregano, thyme, salt to taste, and allspice, if desired. Reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer until beef is cooked, about 10-15 minutes. If beef mixture dries out, add a couple of tablespoons of water to moisten again. Stir in green onions and allow mixture to cool enough to handle.

Fill pastries with meat filling. If there is extra meat filling, place in a small baking dish and heat alongside pastries; serve on the side. Assemble and bake according to instructions on pastry recipe.
