Join us for a Spanish-language cooking class, with instruction entirely in Spanish! We’ll make homemade tamales, a traditional corn-based dough that is filled with meat, beans, or sweet flavors and then wrapped and steamed. Our instructor, Josefa, is from Chiapas, the southernmost state of Mexico on the border with Guatemala. She lives in Vermont with her two young sons and her husband, who works on a dairy farm. This class is made possible through a project called Huertas, a community-based food access project that facilitates the planting of kitchen gardens on rural dairy farms with Latino/migrant farm workers and their families. This class will be taught entirely in Spanish and is facilitated by Jessie Mazar, program coordinator for Huertas.
