This fresh dessert transforms a delicious orange into something truly sublime. Removing the oranges from their membranes requires a bit of time but it absolutely worth it. Serve this recipe for a winter dessert while oranges are in season, accompanied by cookies.
Peel the 6 oranges. Slice open each membrane, remove the orange and place it in a bowl (this process is called supreming). Don’t worry if the orange slices fall apart a bit.
Zest the lemon, and add it to the bowl. Juice half of the zested lemon and add it to the oranges along with the sugar. Toss together and let stand for a few hours before serving.
This recipe can be made a day ahead.
