Ingredients

8 apple
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 1⁄4 cups butter
1 egg
1⁄3 cup water
1 tablespoon white vinegar

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 F degrees. Mix together flour and salt. Cut in butter, with two forks or a pastry blender, until the butter is the size of small peas. Combine egg, 1/3 cup water, and vinegar. Lightly incorporate egg mixture into flour and butter until dough forms. Let this dough rest for 5 minutes.

Roll dough out on a floured cutting board or countertop and cut into 8 squares. Wrap one piece of dough around each apple and place in a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish.

Meanwhile, combine Topping Ingredients in a small saucepan over low heat until butter is melted. Pour over apples.

Bake at 350 F degrees for 40 to 60 minutes until apples are tender, basting every 10 minutes with topping. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
