Description
This dip is inspired by a classic - Lipton Onion Soup mix combined with sour cream. By making this dip completely from scratch - and with local products like Vermont Creamery crème fraîche and Bayley Hazen Blue - you can control the saltiness of the final product and tinker with it according to your tastes, adding more lemon juice, cheese or Worcestershire as desired.
Ingredients
| 2 | Tablespoon | unsalted butter |
| 1 | large sweet onion (thinly sliced) | |
| 1 | Teaspoon | salt |
| 1⁄4 | Teaspoon | black pepper |
| 8 | Ounce | crème fraîche |
| 1⁄4 | Cup | blue cheese, crumbled (such as Bayley Hazen Blue) |
| 1⁄4 | Cup | mayonnaise |
| 1 | Tablespoon | lemon juice |
| 1 | Teaspoon | Worcestershire sauce |
Instructions

In a medium skillet, melt the butter; cook the onions, seasoning them with the salt and pepper, stirring often, until brown and caramelized, about 20 minutes. Remove from the heat to cool.
In a medium bowl, combine the cooled onions with the crème fraiche, blue cheese, mayonnaise, lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce. Adjust seasoning and serve with fresh, crunchy vegetables or chips.
