Annual Events

Mow Down Pollution--Lawn Mower Exchange
It has become an annual tradition at City Market to encourage local residents to help Mow Down Pollution by exchanging a gas-guzzling, air-polluting lawn mower for a battery-powered mower. Through our partnership with Vermont-based Neuton Mowers, we encourage community members to bring in their gas-powered mowers and receive a discount of over $100 off the retail price on a new Neuton electric mower.

The COTS Tree Sale
The annual tree sale to benefit the Committee on Temporary Shelter has been held at the Co-op for the past 12 years, bringing the total donation to over $54,000.
City Market staff, Co-op members and community volunteers assist customers with trees throughout the sale while supplies last! Please keep in mind that according to COTS, $18 covers a night of emergency shelter for an adult at the Waystation. $50 pays for two new backpacks and school supplies for two children in their family shelters.

Good People. Good Food. Good Fun. Harvest Celebration!
Harvest festivals have been occurring since people first began planting and gathering food. While the harvest is celebrated in various ways the world over, it shares many common themes that include the appreciation of the land, the value of hard work, a tribute to the celestial powers, and the love and support of family.

City Market has its own way of celebrating by gathering as many of our Vermont vendors and producers as we can fit into a tent and open the doors wide to the community to celebrate not only the abundance of local food but also the people. For the past seven years, City Market’s Harvest Celebration has grown to include the regional producers whom you see at local farmers’ markets, as well as up and coming vendors just breaking into the marketplace.

The Annual Harvest Celebration is celebrated each fall in the large white tent in the City Market parking lot. Just a few of the local vendors that have showcased their goods include Shelburne Orchards, Vermont Soy, Aqua Vitea Kombucha, Flack Family Farm, Vermont Coffee Company, Olivia's Croutons, Honey Garden Apiaries, and many, many more.
