Annual Events

The COTS Tree Sale
The annual tree sale to benefit the Committee on Temporary Shelter has been held at the Co-op for the past 13 years, bringing the total donation to over $60,000.  City Market staff, Co-op members and community volunteers assist customers with trees throughout the sale while supplies last!

According to COTS:

  • $20 covers food and a night of emergency shelter for an adult at the Waystation.
  • The Daystation, a daytime emergency shelter, is seeing an average of 55 people per day.
  • $50 pays for two new backpacks and school supplies for two children in their family shelters.
  • In the past year, 111 families stayed at the Main Street, Firehouse, or Champlain family shelters, including 156 parents and 114 children.

Harvest Celebration! Good People. Good Food. Good Fun.
The Annual Harvest Celebration gathers together as many of our Vermont vendors and producers as we can fit under our big tent. We open the doors wide to the community to celebrate not only the abundance of local food but also the people. Over the years, City Market’s Harvest Celebration has grown to include the regional producers whom you see at local farmers’ markets, as well as up and coming vendors just breaking into the marketplace.

If you have questions about the Harvest Celebration, please contact City Market’s Outreach & Local Food Manager, Meg Klepack, at mklepack@citymarket.coop or call 802-861-9753.

Mow Down Pollution -- Lawn Mower Exchange
City Market is not planning a Lawn Mower Exchange event in 2012, but you can still exchange a gas-guzzling, air-polluting lawn mower for an electric one. Old lawn mowers can be dropped-off at CSWD and new battery-powered mowers are available from Vermont-based Neuton Mowers.

Herb Day
Join us for International Herb Day in May as we celebrate the importance of herbs and herbalism. Herb Day was created by the Herb Day Coalition, a group of five nonprofit organizations to raise awareness of the significance of herbs and the many ways they can be used safely and creatively for health, beauty, and culinary enjoyment.
