Ravenswood Winery in Sonoma, California credo is “No Wimpy Wines.” Embrace the bold and avoid the bland.

Founder Joel Peterson started Ravenswood in 1976 with his business partner Reed Foster.  While Reed mostly focused on the white wines, Joel focused on the reds, but mostly the Zinfandel.  After Ravenswood was founded, Peterson had duel careers working as a medical researcher at night and in the winery during the day. In fact, it wasn’t until 1992, 16 years later, that he left his job at the clinical lab to devote all his time to the winery.

Joel has been credited with helping make the Zinfandel the phenomenon it is today. He also passed on his wine tasting, wine making and wine knowledge skills to his son Morgan, who is now the owner and founder is Bedrock Wine Co., also in Sonoma, CA.

Today Ravenswood works with over 100 northern California growers who provide grapes and along with their mysterious label, is considered one of California’s most respected wine producers. They certainly don’t make any wimpy wines as intense, spicy aromas that are supported by rich, berry flavors with a long clean finish, characterize their wines.

We sell Ravenswood’s Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Sirah, and of course, the Zinfandel. If you haven’t tried either of these great wines yet, pick up a bottle today!
