Help for Winter Dry Skin

In order to help with dry skin that so many of us experience in the winter, there are some quick common sense things that you can be doing daily; especially making sure that you are getting enough sleep. Our skin’s cellular repair activity is at it’s highest during this time, so be sure to rest.

Make sure you are properly hydrated. Drinking at least 1-2 quarts of water a day is essential. Eating a balanced diet is important. Instead of lunching on a bag of chips with your sandwich, swap it out for a piece of fruit or vegetable. Cantaloupes, apricots, and carrots are rich in vitamins C & A… antioxidants are crucial to skin health. Leafy greens are super rich in B-vitamins like kale or spinach.

When visiting the Coop’s Wellness dept., ask about Evening Primrose Oil capsules. Rich in essential fatty acids, EPO strengthens skin cells and boosts moisture content. Evening primrose oil is available for external use. Aubrey Organics’ Evening Primrose oil lotion is an excellent option. Remember that the skin has its own amazing regenerative powers. Keeping your face protected with sunscreens, moisturizers, scarves and hats are all important to protection from the environment – and your skin will be all the happier with the attention.
