This dough makes one individual pizza, perfect for the budding cook in the kitchen! This recipe was prepared in one of our kids cooking classes.
Measure water into a medium mixing bowl. Sprinkle yeast on top and allow to dissolve.
In the meantime, mix together flour, salt, and sugar. Add to water/yeast mixture until too thick to stir. Add a little more water if necessary to incorporate all the flour.
Turn dough onto a flat surface. Add enough flour until the dough can be easily kneaded. Form into a ball and let rise in a slightly oiled bowl with a towel on top.
Let rise for 2 to 3 hours.
Preheat oven to 400.
Remove dough, punch down, and shape into a pie.
Place on a lightly oiled baking tray dusted with cornmeal.
Add toppings of your choice: fresh tomato sauce, pesto, goat cheese, mozzarella, sliced bell peppers, etc.!
Bake for approximately 20 minutes: Check the underside about 15 minutes into cooking and if it is not getting crisp and golden, gently remove the pizza from the pan and slide it directly onto the oven rack. Let bake for the remaining 5 minutes or longer if you like an extra crisp crust.
Let cool for a couple of minutes, then “Manga, Manga…!”
