Beer and Wine December Newsletter: Department News

First of all, congratulations to Matt Halibozek, Beer and Wine Buyer and Team Leader Extraordinaire! He has been elected to the office of Union President (as if he wasn’t busy enough). We know that he’ll do a fantastic job of representing his fellow City Market staff members with a great deal of integrity and aplomb. The union is in great hands.

I would like to use up some of this space to highlight a new addition to City market’s Fair trade Family; La Riojana Wines from Argentina! La Riojana Cooperativa has been producing wines for 75 years, started by Italian immigrants in 1940, and now with over 500 members, the vast majority of which are small producers with less than 3 hectares of land. They are located in Argentina’s best kept secret, the Famatina Valley, where the climate is dry, sunny and ideal for growing healthy grapes. We carry the Malbec, Cabernet, Chardonnay, and Bonarda/Malbec Blend. Please visit their website, lariojanawines.com for all of the details.
