An Eye Towards the Co-op's Future

By Clem Nilan, General Manager

Hot off the press… We’ve been working these past few months with a co-operative consultant to consider opportunities for a second store. You might remember that back in early November, some of our staff members were in the Co-op’s exitway gathering customer data. This was but one small piece of our market study. Cooperatives, Peace and Hunger

By Clem Nilan, General Manager

My wife and I received many lovely cards this holiday season wishing for peace on earth. Peace has been elusive on this planet. On the global scale, the United Nations main purpose is to keep peace throughout the world. The United Nations designated 2012 as the “International Year of Cooperatives,” honoring co-ops’ important role in promoting peace through social responsibility and caring for others.

A Season for Introspection

By Clem Nilan, General Manager

The winter holidays are a special time to connect with those we love. The shortening days and longer nights make this an introspective season - a great time to enjoy a good book, to try out a new comfort food, and to be thoughtful. It's an especially appropriate time to remember those in our community who go through each day in hunger and need.

City Market Diverts 1% to Intervale Farmers

Donation to Intervale Recovery Fund

During the first two weeks of September, we successfully collected over $13,000, a combination of 1% of sales and donations made by individual shoppers, all of which will be directed to the Intervale Center Farmers' Recovery Fund. “Our staff and patrons care deeply about the farmers down in the Intervale,” says our General Manager, Clem Nilan. “We rely on them to produce fresh, local food year after year, and we’re happy to be in a position to provide community support when they need it most.”
