Solar Power Comes to the Co-op

Starting in January, 136 solar panels will be installed on our Co-op’s roof to begin generating home-grown electricity!  Our system is anticipated to provide enough electricity to power six Burlington homes.

City Market signed an agreement with White River based groSolar to install the photovoltaic system.  The 136 panels will generate 31.28 Kw (kilowatts) of electricity. It is designed as net metering, which means the Co-op will be selling power back to the grid.

The average Burlington home uses 5520 KWh per year, and the projected KWh generation from the Co-op’s solar panels is calculated to be around 33,264 KwH (kilowatts hours) per year.
