We’re featuring two playful red wines for February - Flirt Red Blend and Rose’s Sweet Red Tempranillo. Flirt is an easy drinking, approachable red blend of California grown Syrah, Tempranillo and Zinfandel. Flavors of ripe & juicy red plum and cherry cola are layered with vanilla, butterscotch & light baking spice. This wine is so silky smooth, its great on its own, or shared with friends – flirting optional.

We’ve been getting quite a few customers inquiries about sweeter style wines. With dry styles making up the majority of our selection, we’re offering Rose’s Sweet Red as a new option. Produced from premium Tempranillo grapes grown near the Mediterranean coast of Valencia in western Spain, Rose’s Sweet Red is fermented in stainless steel, meaning there are no heavy oak flavors masking the fresh red fruit. Ripe red raspberry and candied plum flavors are smooth and round and slightly sweet, with velvety tannins on the finish.

The 2 Copas brand is already exceptionally popular here at City Market. Their Argentine Tempranillo/Malbec blend is a staple of our Wine Department and a customer favorite. 2 Copas has branched out into Spanish varietals and has two great new wines at the same great prices as their “originals” – just $6.99!

2 Copas Spanish Tempranillo/Syrah starts with aromas of blueberry jam, plum preserves and hints of exotic spices. Rich, bold flavors of ripe dark cherries and raspberry are smooth, pleasant and balanced on the palate. This is an easy, uncomplicated sipper, great with pizza and burgers and equally tasty on its own.

2 Copas Spanish White is 100% Macabeo, with aromas of pineapple and golden apple. This wine is very light-bodied, versatile and refreshing, with crisp minerality and bright citrus flavors. Great with shellfish, spicy fare or as an aperitif.

The Garnacha grape was once regarded as more functional than fun. It’s known for being a “workhorse” of a Spanish varietal and is often used as a blending grape in France where it is known as Grenache. Times have changed and we’ve had great luck with good value Spanish Garnachas. They can be juicy and fruity while still maintaining good structure and body. Hints of spice and dark fruit flavors carry Garnacha from BBQ season into the cold winter months.

This December we have two delicious Garnachas on sale for $8.99.

Altés Garnachahas loads of kirsch, raspberry, and licorice aromas and flavors with earthy minerality. It’s intense, complex, rich and dense, with no blending required!

Borsao Garnachais a medium-bodied red with aromas of baking spices enveloped in blackberry and blueberry fruit. Rich, dark fruit flavors are accented with red cherry and pomegranate flavors. Borsao is an easy drinking crowd pleaser!

Brownstone Winery consistently makes great wine at unbeatable prices. It’s hard to find a great Pinot Noir for under $10, but Brownstone has one! In November we are featuring Brownstone Pinot Noir as well as their new Brownstone Rocky Red. Both are a steal at $7.99 a bottle!

Brownstone Pinot Noir is medium-bodied, with classic cherry and raspberry aromas and flavors with a hint of baking spice. The finish is smooth & satisfying. It’s one of the best value Pinot Noirs we’ve found, perfect for a large Thanksgiving gathering of friends or family.

Brownstone Rocky Red is a California field blend that’s loaded with ripe red fruit flavors. Rocky Red is juicy and easy drinking, with fine tannins and nice structure and acidity for a wine of this price.
