Tala, A Taste of Persia, owned and operated by Rey Garofano, specializes in Persian hand-crafted baked goods. They produce a number of specialty cookies and baklava, and offer gluten-free options of products made from rice and chickpea flours. Rey moved to the US from Iran in 1984, and to reconnect to her roots, she started baking cookies using recipes handed down to her from her grandmother. When her friends responded favorably to the treats, she decided to turn her baking into a business. Tala means "gold" in Farsi, but it also represents Rey's mother, whose name was Talat. Tala, Taste of Persia was recently featured in a Burlington Free Press article - check it out!
