Bee Sting Bakery is owned and operated by baker Heike Meyer. Also a frequent food educator for some of City Market's food education classes, Heike bakes a variety of rustic, artisan, and sourdough breads and baked goods in a wood-fired oven using organic and local ingredients when possible. Heike grew up in Germany and has trained with master bakers in Germany, France, and the US. As she states, "I developed a taste for bread early on, requesting only the heartiest, whole grain breads for my Kindergarten lunch box. By high school I was cycling 10 miles across town to get a special hearty rye bread and fresh brioche from an artisan bakery I adored."
