1.  Why would you like to serve on the Board of Directors of the Onion River Cooperative?

Being a socialist, I believe in economic democracy of which cooperatives are an important embodiment. I believe that being a lawyer with an MBA degree makes me exceptionally well qualified. In high school, my first 2 jobs were with a mom and pop grocery store and as cashier in a large supermarket.

2.  The work of the Board is not operational – that is, it does not deal with the daily operations of the store. Instead, the Board deals with the overall policies that identify and guide the mission of the Cooperative. How will you stay focused on the larger vision, without being distracted by the day-to-day operations of the store?

The MBA program that I graduated from at UVM focused on overall policies.

3.  What strengths and skills would you bring to the work of the Cooperative’s Board?

I’m licensed as an attorney in NY state, having been admitted to the NY Bar in 1986. I also have an MBA from UVM. I became a coop member about 7 years ago and my membership is fully paid up. I have regularly attended the annual meeting every year.
