12th Annual Holiday Tree Sale to Benefit COTS
Join City Market in an annual fundraiser to benefit the Committee on Temporary Shelter (COTS). Over the past 11 years, we’ve been able to donate over $44,000 to COTS thanks to the support of our customers and Co-op Members. Last year alone, we donated over $8,000. COTS is Vermont’s largest provider of shelter and services to those who are homeless or marginally housed.
How can you help?
Purchase your holiday tree at City Market for only $30 (includes all tree sizes). The fresh balsams are delivered from Moffatt's Tree Farm in Craftsbury, VT. Don’t delay, the trees always sell out early!
Plus, Sugarbush Resort is sweetening the deal! Get a free two-for-one lift ticket to Sugarbush Resort’s Mt. Ellen with every tree purchased. (Some restrictions apply.)
$30 Goes A Long Way:
Your $30 for a tree can go a long way to help a neighbor in need. Check out the breakdown from COTS of their services:
• $10 pays for a credit report that helps a family or individual get an apartment.
• $18 covers a night of emergency shelter for an adult at the COTS Waystation.
• $50 pays for two new backpacks and school supplies for two children in our family shelters.
• $150 provides more than 10 nights of safe and decent shelter for a homeless Veteran at the COTS Waystation.
• $250 can fix a family’s car so the bread-winner can keep his/her job outside of the city and avert homelessness.
• $500 can provide a security deposit for a family moving into a new apartment, or it can provide emergency, one-time assistance to help a family avert homelessness.
• $1,000 covers three months of decent, affordable housing for an elderly person at the COTS Wilson Hotel.
